Led by Drexel University graduates Sean Carver, Sr. Manager of Facility Operations at the Specter Center, and Catherine Brady, Manager of Development and Communications at US Squash, students were able to hear more about co-op opportunities for the Specter Center and some of the squash basics. Several students from the COM290 course even stepped on court for the very first time. While there were a couple returning students who had previously visited the Specter Center to watch a major championship or compete for their team, most students were learning about the game in an engaging and interactive experience.
The visits gave students insight into the role the Specter Center plays within the Philadelphia sports community while also showcasing the accessibility and fast-paced nature of squash. Staff members introduced students to the fundamentals of the game, including basic movement, racquet skills and court awareness, before students participated in beginner-friendly rallies on court.

Programs like these reflect the Specter Center’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and growing awareness of squash among new audiences. By partnering with local schools and universities, the facility continues to create opportunities for students to connect with the sport in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Specter Center for a tour (self-guided or scheduled) while the building is open.
